Chrysler Marine was a dominant innovator in the 1960s and 70s, bringing automotive-scale engineering and design to the outboard market.

Chrysler engines were distinctive for their clean, modern styling and significant technical 'firsts,' including being the first manufacturer to offer a production 100hp+ outboard. Their engineering team focused on creating engines with high displacement-per-horsepower, resulting in units that were exceptionally smooth and durable under load. Chrysler was also a pioneer in electronic ignition systems, helping to eliminate the maintenance headaches of traditional points-and-condenser setups. While the brand was eventually sold to US Marine and became Force, the original Chrysler 'Skier' and 'Magnacharger' models remain legendary among collectors for their mid-century aesthetic and robust performance. They represent the peak of American marine industrial design during the golden age of family boating.
